Festival Wedding Cake.
I recently made a very special wedding cake for a festival themed wedding. I had the honour of being bridesmaid at this wedding which made it extra special.
The cake was based on the couples invitations, their save the date reflected the grooms love of Lego, with a picture of a Lego bride and groom standing outside the church in which the couple were going to be married in. The day time invitation had a classy cream background incorporating vintage bunting and the pastels colours which were used throughout the wedding day. And finally the evening invitation was a festival ticket, titled “our big day”.
The whole wedding had a festival theme, with a live band, straw bale seating, bunting and food vans. So the main focus of the cake had to be the festival invitation, the middle tier was airbrushed and hand painted to represent the “our big day” invite.
The middle tier had so much colour and detail, I used the plainer design of the daytime invite for the other two tiers to compliment and make the middle tier really stand out.
The bride and Groom wanted a topper for the cake but didn’t want the traditional figures. So to finish the cake off I made the Lego figures from the Save the date invitation for the top.
The whole day had a fantastic feel and it was clear that a lot of work had gone into the little touches, The wedding cake fit in so well and looked fantastic on top of a barrel in among the straw bales in the marquee. The Bride and Groom Loved the cake as did the guests and I loved the end result too!!
A special thank you to Krystina from Fig Photography for the fantastic photos!
